Antimicrobial Plastic & Polymers
The antimicrobial polymer additive is an advanced controlled release antimicrobial treatment for polymers and resins. It keeps products made from polymers and resins free from dangerous bacteria while maintaining polymer durability and integrity.

What are the Benefits of the Antimicrobial for Plastics & Polymers?
Our controlled release antimicrobial polymer additive system is one of the few that can survive extrusion/molding temperatures:
- Our thermally stable particles and our anti-microbial can be processed at high temperatures.
- It is a colloidal suspension, and particles in this form do not settle, so it will mix better with a polymer system before processing (extrusion)
- As a colloidal particle, it should improve the mechanical properties of polymers
- As a colloidal particle, it will blend better with polymer, creating a more uniform distribution
- The surface of our colloidal particle can be made hydrophilic or hydrophobic depending on the polymer system of interest

Test Results for FRAg (fast release) and SRAg (slow release)
Controls
7 to 8 log reduction of bacteria counts (CFU/ml)
Testing Notes:
- Substrate: 30-40 nm transparent, dispersible NZ crystals (agglomerate size controlled from nanometers to microns)
- Conditions for antimicrobial testing: E.coli, FRAg, SRAg = 100 µg/ml, 37 °C, 75 min
- MIC (MBC) of FRAg 1.56 micrograms/ml; SRAg 3.125 micrograms/ml (positive control ampicillin 0.5 micrograms/ml) towards E.coli (2.5×104 CFU/ml)
